Colorado Springs Buddy Walk

CARPET ONE FLOOR & HOME IN COLORADO SPRINGS SUPPORTS DOWN SYNDROME AWARENESS MONTH.

For O’Briens Carpet One Floor & Home in Colorado Springs, CO, giving back to its community hits close to home. A member of the owner’s family, 13-year-old Emily Allen, was born with Down Syndrome. Since she was born, the family and business became involved with the Colorado Springs Down Syndrome Association. Each year the store hosts an annual launch event and Buddy Walk to support the organization and raise funds for Emily.

The launch event this year was held at the O’Briens Carpet One Floor & Home store on August 17th. The event included an early T-shirt pick up, a live radio remote and local TV/Radio personality, Dan Cochell, who participated in his third year of going “UP FOR DOWN SYNDROME”. He will traveled up in a scissor lift in front of the store and live there for a week straight to help raise awareness and money for individuals with Down Syndrome.

The Buddy Walk® was established in 1995 by the National Down Syndrome Society to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down Syndrome.

The Buddy Walk will took place August 24th at Manitou Springs Memorial Park in Colorado.
