Gallatin Valley Carpet One

GALLATIN VALLEY CARPET ONE FLOOR & HOME SUPPORTS SMART HOME PROGRAM.

After suffering life-changing injuries during a tour of Iraq in 2007, SGT Saul Martinez now dedicates his life to serving others bearing similar war wounds. Now he’s preparing for a different type of “deployment”- the journey to his forever home later this summer.

Saul, currently serving as Director of Warrior Services for the Warriors & Quiet Waters Foundation in Bozeman, MT, has never been one to let his own life’s trials and tragedies prevent him from living his best life. After losing both legs above the knee, along with two members of his battle unit when his convoy was struck by a projectile improvised explosive device on May 8, 2007, Saul continues to cope with both a traumatic brain injury, along with severe survivor’s guilt. However, the young veteran has found peace in his work: assisting other veterans and helping them cope with their wounds through therapeutic fly-fishing adventures and other activities. He also spent an extended period of time as a member the Warrior Transition Unit, where he helped countless other injured soldiers adjust to civilian life.

After moving to Montana and earning a degree at Montana State University, Saul continues giving back: sharing his love of outdoors adventures, ukulele music, and golf with his peers. His image is captured forever in former President George Bush’s Portraits of Courage, a series of paintings aimed at putting a human face on the plight of American servicemen and women.

The Army veteran and his family will be presented with a mortgage-free Smart Home next month, thanks to the ongoing efforts of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Gallatin Valley Carpet One Floor & Home in Bozeman, MT is assisting with this exciting project, having installed beautiful new flooring throughout the entire home. The new home, engineered specially to meet Saul’s adaptive needs, will be unveiled during a public ceremony on Wednesday, July 1 at 10 am and is open to well-wishers from surrounding communities.
