Like many other things, the circumstances of 2020 naturally guided the direction of Pantone's color trends forecast for the new year. Deemed "a marriage of color conveying a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting," the leading color authority declared Ultimate Gray and Illuminating, together, Pantone Color of the Year 2021.
For over 20 years, the leading color authority has influenced product development and purchasing decisions across numerous industries including fashion, consumer packaging, graphics arts, industrial design, and—you guessed it—home furnishings. Here are 12 interiors, a few tips, and our favorite floors inspired by the vibrant and steadfast duo.
We realize the premise of this blog post is, in fact, trends. But, let us tell you—the color gray is as timeless as tile itself. Choosing an Ultimate Gray-inspired tile floor for your bathroom, entryway, or other, will never go out of style.

If you're looking for a less permanent way to incorporate Ultimate Gray into your home, home décor accessories are the perfect play. Baskets—always a good idea—add beauty, textural interest, and help to hide and keep the clutter organized.

The bathroom is another space that you'll never regret using gray in. Here, designer Sara Bederman opted for a monochromatic look with a gray skinny subway tile backsplash, grey framed mirror, brushed nickel faucet, and a modern, gray-washed vanity.
