Influencer Highlights From Our Trending Ten

This year at Carpet One Floor & Home, we have ten trending products that we’ve flagged as our favorite floors, and you don’t want to miss them.

With the help of a few of our friends who have created several mood boards, we show off these trend-setting floors. These DIY interior decorators show you how to style them with your design schemes and existing decor. 

Redecorating the Bathroom with Luxury Vinyl or Tile Flooring

Jeran McConnel is considering redesigning her master bathroom, taking it out of the 90s remodel style it currently has and into a fresh new look. Not ready for a full-gut reno of this bathroom, Jeran is looking to make some minor updates in the form of installing new floors, repainting, replacing hardware, and adding some stylish art and accessories.

“I was immediately drawn to two of [Carpet One’s] flooring selections for our bathroom – Concrete Look in Power Grey by Bel Terra Tile and Ralston Creek in Charleston by Invincible XT,” Jeran said.

She’s decided to keep the rust-colored countertops, so she plans to repaint the cabinets with a rich, rusty red and maintain the pink tone in the walls. Still debating between the Ralston Creek luxury vinyl and the Bel Terra tile, Jeran loves the wood-grain as it feels warm and would pair nicely with the existing hardwood in her home. However, the gray concrete look contrasts nicely with the warm red tones and honors the age of the house with a vintage touch.

Living Room Mood Board with Hardwood or Carpet

Kelly Ballard, a Utah-based DIY decorator, has a farmhouse-style living room that she’s redesigned several times. 

With the help of our 2021 Trending 10 Samples Box, Kelly put together a new mood board for her living room. She used the Harrison Trail Sliced Hickory White by Rustic River, the Glendale carpet by Resista 3.0, and the Branden Pier carpet by Tigressá Cherish to create a boho-chic themed redesign. 

“The 2021 Trending Samples Box I received was filled with contents that helped me create my mood board,” Kelly said. “These are items that can help you create a hands-on mood board like I am doing.”

Outlining several simple steps, Kelly said she began her mood board by deciding on the space she wanted to redesign. She then researched inspiration to find a design style, deciding what she wanted to keep in the room, and then creating a new style using pieces to reflect what she wants out of the flooring, wall space, furniture, and accent decor. Alongside clay pots, greenery, paint swatches, and rustic reeds, Kelly produced a mood board that reflected the direction she wants to take her living room in.

Bedroom Refresh with Waterproof Laminate

Sue Koford created three mood boards to reflect her dream bedroom space using our Trending 10 flooring samples. Taking into consideration the flooring, drapery, new bedding, paint, and updated furniture, Sue designed three spaces. Her mood boards were inspired by modern neutral, coastal retreat, and tropical color vibes. 

Sue used moody colors and the Harrison Trail Sliced Hickory White for modern neutral and balanced out her dark paint samples with light fabrics. The use of wood paired with fun wallpaper patterns makes for a calm, tranquil space. Sue incorporates bright and bold prints with our Sweatheart Plus broadloom carpet in midnight blue by Innovia Touch in the tropical color mood board. She creates a warm space reminiscent of a vacation resort with its coastal blues and jungle greens.

Her favorite of the three, the coastal retreat mood board, shows off the Mirror Lake Performance Flooring in creamy light wood color.

“I live in Southern California, so coastal style has my heart,” Sue said. “I love the lighter wood flooring here, paired with navy, leather, and light linen samples. I added the seashells and metallics to bring a coastal pop to this mood board. That’s the fun part about mood boards—they can be anything you want them to be!”
